Hanblecheya

In May of 2017, I partook in a Hanblecheya Ceremony under the care of knowledge holder sherrylynne jondreau

During my four days fasting in the forest, the land came alive around me and I was kept company by a number of animals and birds

A Hummingbird stayed by my side throughout almost all the daylight hours, a Black Snake and a Tree frog brought me teachings about our role as human beings in relation to all other beings on this earth, the happy flier family (a family of little brown marsh wrens) hatched their chicks just outside my circle of prayer ties, an Owl came to sit with me bringing teachings and a gift I now carry with me in my medicine bundle, and on the last evening a Bear visited in the dark of the night

Many teachings were shared with me through both visions and directly from the animals themselves. words cannot begin to express the joy I experienced during my time on the land, having been welcomed so fully onto that land

Then, when I returned home to the cabin where I was staying after the ceremony, there were five young barred owls (shown in the photos below) who came to visit every evening for the remainder of my stay. they landed on the grass around me when I was outside, they sat in the tree outside my bedroom window and, when I fell asleep for the night, they flew through that window into my dreams
